AI Strategy, Oversight and Board Responsibility

Understand AI well enough to set direction, weigh the risks and ask the right questions.

Boards don't need to build AI, but they do need to understand it. Without that grounding, it's hard to judge AI proposals, spot the risks or set a strategy that fits the organisation's goals.

This short course covers the fundamentals in 3 to 5 hours: the key AI technologies, the opportunities they create, the risks they bring and the board's responsibility for AI strategy. No technical background is needed.

About the Course

AI is changing how organisations operate, compete and make decisions. It also raises ethical, strategic and regulatory questions that land on the board's agenda, often before directors feel equipped to answer them.
AI Strategy, Oversight and Board Responsibility gives you the foundations. It explains the main AI technologies in plain language, shows where AI can improve efficiency and decision-making, and sets out the risks boards must watch, from bias and discrimination to data security.

It finishes with the board's own role: setting the strategic direction for AI and making sure AI initiatives support the organisation's long-term objectives.

You'll learn:

• Understand machine learning, neural networks and generative AI, and how businesses use them
• Identify where AI can improve efficiency, decision-making and operations
• Recognise ethical, regulatory and operational risks such as bias, discrimination and data security
• Explain the board's responsibility for setting AI strategy in line with long-term objectives.

What you get:

• 3 to 5 hours of self-paced online learning, with [6] months' access
• A digital certificate from The Corporate Governance Institute on successful completion
• Expert videos, case studies and downloadable resources
• One assessment included in the course fee.
