Frequently asked questions

Which AI course should I take first?

If you're new to AI, start with the BCS Foundation Certificate in Artificial Intelligence (v2.0). It covers AI, machine learning, AI ethics, data visualisation and generative AI. If you want practical skills for your job, AI for Business or the Foundation Award in Generative AI are good options.

What's the difference between a single course and a career pathway?

A single course gives you one recognised certificate in a specific topic. A career pathway combines courses to build deep expertise in AI, with a certificate or diploma that proves it, at a discounted price compared with buying the courses separately.

Are your AI courses accredited?

Our accredited AI courses are awarded by BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, or by The Corporate Governance Institute.

Do I need a technical background?

No. Many of the awards are foundation level and suit professionals from any background, and the Generative AI award needs no prior AI experience. Each course page lists any entry requirements.

How long do I have to complete a course?

Access runs for 12 months on BCS or one year, depending on the course. The access period is shown on each course card.

What jobs can these AI certifications lead to, and what could I earn?

Our AI certifications help you move into, or move up in, roles where AI is part of the job. That includes AI analyst or specialist roles, business and data analysis, project and product management, risk, compliance and data protection, and leadership roles that oversee AI. The Diploma in AI Governance is aimed at senior professionals, directors, and board members responsible for AI risk, ethics, and regulation. Salary expectations vary by role, but remember that knowledge, competent and ethical use of AI is increasingly an expected skill by employers.
